Garden Centre & Gift Shop
The Old Well Garden Centre is a family business, located close to junction 27 of the M5 just off the A38. Our loyal customers have seen us grow over the last 40 years from petrol filling station, selling cut flowers, to a garden centre with one of the best and largest range of plants, extensive garden sundries range and huge pot selection and indoor plant range.
You might also be tempted by our homemade cakes or scones and many other tasty treats on offer. We also have a wonderful giftware department and during the festive period, an inspiring display of Christmas decorations, lights and trees.

April showers brings May flowers.
Rolling into the last weekend of the month here at The Old Well Garden Centre with displays, shelves & re-set spaces bursting with feel good factor finds for your home and garden.
It’s been just over 7 days since we gently opened our rebuilt main entrance & shop frontispiece. The going so far has been good.
Thank you for the overwhelming number of kind supportive comments. Every single one has been seen and very much heard 💚
Whilst we’re aware there’s still plenty going on for us behind the scenes to be fully finished & fixed after the fire, we can safely say the light at the end of the tunnel is finally here.
Thank you for continuing to be patient & understanding during your visits.
Weekly deliveries will now really come into their own - with new garden furniture sets, parasols, chimneas, fire pits, water features, solar lighting, decor, pet products, every tool you could possibly wish for & much much more all in stock.
Plant arrivals this week are strong & savvy - with house plants & ceramics, exquisite quality herbs & alpines, great value bedding & border packs, filled hanging baskets, blossoms & shrubs to die for, climbers & new varieties of rose, perrenials galore, and your firm favourite veggies.
Not forgetting the local produce, ciders, wines & gin, home made cakes, eats & treats from our Food Hall, Cafe, Restaurant Tea Room & Tea Garden.
Plenty of excuses to stop by & smell the flowers!
Come along & see us soon if you’ve not visited in a while.

A special day 💚 43 years ago today, The Old Well opened for the first time.
3 petrol pumps & 2 baskets of sweets to choose from was the offering. Customers welcomed & served by mum & dad - David & Christine Lamyman - with three little boys in tow. I was 2 years old at the time.
By 1984 the baskets of sweets were upgraded to tea, home made cakes & treats, afew flowers. Good honest hospitality. A worthwhile pit stop for passers by & the local community.
Mum & dad saw the opportunity to share something special from our home - customers enjoyed it and kept coming back!
In 1989 the flowers, cakes, teas & treats were joined by plants, afew pots, seeds & garden sundries amongst other treasures and hand picked finds.
The seeds of The Old Well Garden Centre were sown.
Fast forward 43 years, mum & dad, myself & Michelle & our wider team now run a vast Garden Centre, charming Gift Shop, Restaurant Tea Room, Food Hall and Glass House Cafe.
We are proud to employ 55 staff who work incredibly hard with us and for us.
Our pillars - friendly customer service, a quality mix of plants & products for the home & garden, food & drink, a good choice within each department, and value for money prices.
Something for everyone as mum says!
We’ve grown considerably over the years. The support of our local & loyal customers, our staff & our suppliers has without doubt kept The Old Well going when times have been good, and not so good.
Thank you.
This morning, on Good Friday 2025, we soft launch our rebuilt main entrance & newest shop space after the November 2024 fire destroyed it.
Your support and patience during these last 6 months especially has been very much appreciated.
So if you’re joining us this Easter weekend or soon, please head to the main building with glass elevation entrance pictured below.
Drive slowly & carefully following our new signeage.
The temporary entrance marquee is now closed & will be taken down next week.
It feels good to be moving forward now, even moreso on this anniversary date.
An official re-opening celebration event will follow a little later in the season once we’ve had chance to draw breath.
Happy Easter everyone.
Don’t forget we’re closed on Sunday, giving our team the day off with their families.
